Behind the Scenes

Taylor Narváez Claman graduated from the University of Iowa, with degrees in Theatre Arts and Spanish, as well as a certificate in Writing (May, 2018). She is excited to continue gaining experience as a writer, actor, director and producer. Currently, Taylor Narváez Claman is developing a webcomic with her sister, Sabrina Claman, which first released on Webtoon Canvas on August 30, 2021.

Recently, Narváez Claman voice acted in a commercial for Morgan & Morgan Personal Injury Law (Oct 2022). She acted in a 48 Hour Film submission, produced by her company, Arlorosa Films (Jul 2022).


In 2019, Narváez Claman wrote, co-directed, and produced "The Rot Within," a narrative short thriller based on a her own experiences studying abroad. "The Rot Within" was officially selected for the 2021 Alternating Currents Film Festival (Aug 19-22, 2021). During the fall of 2019, she also acted in an instructional video for BVS Performance Solutions, modeled for Ian Castillo, as well as acted in a fictional documentary short by Noah Lucy.


Narváez Claman lived in New York City for the first six months of 2019. During that time: she acted in a video on bisexuality for Tinder's Youtube channel; she played a pedestrian in Rollin Studios' feature film Lost In Russia; and she worked as a temporary legal writer for Samuel Christensen Law Firm (Apr, 2019). She was also published in DREAMY Magazine's Issue 23 (photographed by Jonathan Ho).


In March 2019, Narváez Claman was announced a Fulbright Research/Study Creative Arts Grant semi-finalist (though she was ultimately not selected as a finalist). In January 2019, Connor Aden and Taylor Narváez Claman's short film "Lost in Tandem" was selected as a finalist for the 2019 Big Apple Film Festival and Screenplay Competition.


Narváez Claman and Aden also collaborated a few other times before she left Iowa. Together they co-directed a music video for local hip hop artist, Prodagy (Oct-Dec, 2018). Narváez Claman also acted in Aden's short film, "Gaze" (Oct, 2018). "Any Place but Here," written and directed by Justin Brown, won second place as an audience favorite at FilmScene's Open Screening (2018). In addition to film work, Narváez Claman modeled in collaboration with local photographers, as well as finished revising her play, Las Ratas Callejeras, after the bilingual translation project she and Sayde Hampton co-directed together (Jun, 2018).


While at the University of Iowa, she acted in multiple short films directed by Connor Aden (2017-2018) and directed the play Six Performers in Search of an Ending (written by Rachel Soffa and Sayde Hampton; Dec, 2017). Narváez Claman's full-length play Starfire was produced at the university as a gallery production (Oct, 2017). Earlier that year, Narváez Claman also co-directed and co-produced La Redención, a Spanish speaking play that was written, co-directed and co-produced by Ana Merino (May, 2017).

In July of 2016, Narváez Claman studied in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she interned with two theatre directors and a film director. While there, she observed their directing and acting classes. She also did some freelance translation work (July-Dec, 2016). Before studying in Argentina, Narváez Claman directed Ash Pierce's Ollyoxals, which was selected for the University of Iowa Ten Minute Festival (Feb, 2016). Additionally, Narváez Claman played the role of "Klara" in Nina Morrison’s gallery production, Femináal, directed by Sam Collier (Oct, 2015).
